Opinions from my blogging friends needed

My goal is to incorporate the vintage hat, and the small pieces of fabric into a suitable dress design. I'll need a pattern in a size 5T - 6.
This is an adult woman's hat with a very small brim. 1940's?? I think the bow was worn in the front.

This is all I've come up with thus far........a hat.....and a yoke.
(I need help from my blogging friends)
I'm trying to find a pattern suitable in a child size 5-6 and appropriate coordinating fabric which will work with this idea.
Any ideas will be appreciated! Time is clicking by....... I need to come up with something soon........ any ideas or thoughts will be appreciated. :-)

I don't have a suggestion because I don't sew, but LOVE the combo of that hat and linen! Gorgeous!

But, alas, that fabric piece I wrapped your gifty in isn't enough. I kept the other piece and had envisioned putting it on an apron, or tote bag, but I haven't done anything with mine either! LOL Who knows, if I remain uninspired, it may go out in another giveaway! sigh....

Could you do some type of apron dress and do some sort of applique with this fabric on the apron? I would have to see the fabric in person to have some suggestions for coordinating fabric for you. I have to come your way on Monday.... would you like me to stop by?

ReplyDeleteI wish I could say I was quite crafty and that I have tons of ideas & links to share...but the truth is I'm stopping by from SITS and I am sewing & craft-impaired. Seriously. I can barely sew a button on and I'm completely missing that gene. But I think your blog is great and I just wanted to pop in and say hello since I saw you on roll call. LOVELY!! I am going to have to think on it though. For some reason when I saw it I thought of "Pollyanna" and the dresses that they wore in that movie. I know that Vouge has some vintage patterns, have you looked there?

ReplyDeleteI'd use the yoke fabric and Tea dye some cotton, muslin or linen to make a simple shift dress - then as mentioned above add a white pinnafore with some hand embroidery. Just darling hat. I do think the bow is worn in the back however. :o) Sandie
